Meet Moongcho, Gangwon 2024 Mascot
Gangwon 2024’s mascot was born from snow, as can be seen in Moongcho’s face - a flying snowball that symbolizes one of the key aspects of sport: speed.
Every snowball is unique, but all have a common foundation in snow. Similarly, young athletes will unite and share their dreams while growing together through the Youth Olympic Games.
There are no winners or losers in snowball fights; Moongcho encourages everyone to embrace every moment and enjoy the Games based on the value and spirit of the Youth Olympic Games.

The Mascot’s Name
Moongcho, the mascot’s name, derives from the Korean verb mungchida, which means to gather as one.
Moongcho's Story
A snowball that Soohorang and Bandabi, the official mascots of PyeongChang 2018, used in a snowball fight in Gangwon province was born again as Moongcho ahead of Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games. Having inherited the quality of sportsmanship from Soohorang and Bandabi, Moongcho is eagerly waiting for the Games to start - just like the rest of us!
