Medal Design Competition winners

Winner: A Sparkling Future

Dante Akira Uwai, 27 years old, Brazil.

A Sparkling Future

The design is a geometric interpretation of the motto "grow together, shine forever." Vertical lines are used to convey the idea of growth, while random elements created through cutouts and texture changes represent the diverse group of people who participate in the Olympics. The variety of forms demonstrates diversity and how we can all contribute in different ways to peace and coexistence. The polished finishes create dynamic little sparks of light, symbolizing our desire to overcome ourselves and make positive changes in the world.

2nd: The Road to Victory

Luisa Valencia Gomez, 27 years old, Colombia.

The Road to Victory

The medal is designed to represent the arduous journey and challenges athletes endure to become the best, with each line representing a different pathway. Each athlete follows a completely different path and faces unique challenges, just like each line of the medal, which is unique and unrepeatable. To represent this, textures and symbolic elements that are part of Korean culture are used: -The circles at the top symbolise heaven, eternity and fullness. -The shapes in the middle symbolise the earth, which is represented by the mountain. -The curved shapes at the bottom symbolise water, and movement. All the paths are connected and have as their final destination "the top of the mountain", where the symbol of the Olympics is located, which is the dream of every athlete.

3rd: Land of Dreams

Carlos Alejandro Castañeda Arenas, 32 years old, Mexico.

Land of Dreams
Land of Dreams

"The Land of Dreams" embodies a city with customs and traditions that form an essential and organic part of its identity, as well as a community that grows with a solid and modern vision for the future. The two concepts merge in a balanced manner and will be witnessed during the Winter Youth Olympic Games. The abstract representation of the "Mugunghwa" flower, which is the national symbol of South Korea, symbolizes immortality and embodies the dreams, achievements, and victories of all participating athletes. The flower merges with the characteristic landscape of the Gangwon mountain area, which will witness the countless feats that each athlete will perform, forming a great panorama that this land gives us. Additionally, graphic elements from the architecture of South Korean temples, which are an important part of Gangwon's history, are observed. "The Land of Dreams" is a city and community that strives to be admired and is the place where all athletes materialize their dreams, becoming part of Olympic history and the history of each athlete.
